Gati Shakti University and Airbus Collaborate to Boost Aerospace Education and Job Opportunities in India

“MoU signed to strengthen India’s aviation sector, creating 15,000 job prospects for students at Airbus.”

In a significant move to advance India’s aerospace industry, Gati Shakti University (GSV) and Airbus have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The signing ceremony took place at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, attended by Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics, and IT, who is also the first Vice-Chancellor of Gati Shakti University. This collaboration is set to make a remarkable impact on the education landscape and job opportunities in the aviation sector.

Airbus, a global leader in commercial aircraft and aerospace manufacturing, recently partnered with Tata to collaborate on designing, innovating, manufacturing, and developing the C-295 aircraft in Vadodara, Gujarat. This partnership underscores Airbus’s commitment to India as a prime hub for commercial aviation, brimming with talent and resources. It aligns with the “Make in India” initiative and signifies Airbus’s dedication to strengthening India’s position in global manufacturing.

Ashwini Vaishnav, speaking at the occasion, emphasized GSV’s focus on robust industry-academia partnerships. All courses at GSV will be developed in collaboration with industry experts, ensuring that students are industry-ready upon graduation. This alignment with industry needs is expected to result in high demand for GSV graduates in the transportation and logistics sectors. The MoU with Airbus marks a significant stride towards achieving this goal.

Remy Maillard, Chairman and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, highlighted Airbus’s commitment to nurturing India’s aerospace ecosystem. Recognizing the importance of human capital development, this partnership with Gati Shakti University aims to cultivate a skilled workforce that can cater to the rapidly growing aerospace sector in India.

The collaboration will facilitate industry-academic partnerships, co-development and delivery of sector-specific skill courses for both regular students and working professionals, joint research initiatives, industrial experience opportunities for faculty, internships, placements, and scholarship programs for students. This comprehensive approach is expected to generate substantial job opportunities in line with industry demands. Airbus anticipates providing employment to approximately 15,000 Indian students through its operations.

Gati Shakti University, established by an Act of Parliament in 2022, is dedicated to producing top-notch talent for the transportation and logistics sectors. Sponsored by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, and led by Ashwini Vaishnav as its first Vice-Chancellor, GSV has a unique focus on transport and logistics. It aligns with national development plans, such as the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and the National Logistics Policy, leveraging state-of-the-art infrastructure and a demand-driven curriculum to foster professionals in technology, economics, management, and policy. GSV also serves as a training hub for Indian Railways probationers and officers.

With its industry-driven and innovation-led approach, GSV has already forged collaborations with leading institutions and industries worldwide. This MoU with Airbus further cements its commitment to preparing students for a thriving future in the aerospace sector and contributing to India’s economic growth.
