Vadodara authorities have clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in the city after panic buying led to long queues at petrol pumps over the past two days.
According to District Supply Officer Geetaben Desai, the rush was caused by rumours circulating on social media. Despite higher-than-normal sales, sufficient fuel stock is available. Supply from depots at Umraya (HPCL), Koyli (BPCL), and Dumad (IOCL) has been running regularly since early morning to maintain distribution across the city and district.
Officials confirmed that there is no limit on fuel purchase, and supply remains stable at both government and company-operated pumps. However, sale of fuel in bottles or containers is strictly prohibited. A notice has been issued to a petrol pump on Gotri Road for violation of this rule.
Monitoring teams, including mamlatdar officials and oil company representatives, are checking petrol pumps. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid panic buying and not to believe or share unverified information.
