Dabhoi MLA Shailesh Mehta visited Sathod village on Thursday, a day after a heated exchange with Congress leader Sudhir Barot at the Dabhoi Taluka Panchayat.
According to local sources, Mehta arrived in Sathod with a group of supporters. The village is considered a stronghold of Barot. People gathered at multiple locations during the visit, and Mehta was received by supporters.
Following the recent clash between the two leaders, police deployed additional security in the area. Teams including SOG personnel and local police officers were present to maintain law and order. No untoward incident was reported during the visit.
The earlier incident at the Taluka Panchayat had created tension in the region. With local elections approaching, political activity in Dabhoi has increased.
At present, the situation in Sathod remains under control. Police officials continue to monitor the area, and more details on the earlier altercation are awaited.
