Fake Currency Case: Vadodara SOG Arrests Students, Rajasthan Link Found
The Vadodara SOG has arrested several students of a private university in connection with a fake currency case. The case came to light after counterfeit ₹500 notes were deposited in a cash deposit machine of a bank on Waghodia Road on April 28.
According to police, 20 fake notes were initially detected during bank verification. Based on a complaint, SOG PI B.D. Jitiya and his team began an investigation using technical inputs. The probe led to the arrest of Sagar Maru, Nisarg Patel, Dhanush Hallikeri, Bhavesh Sharma, and Tirth Likhiya. A total of 85 counterfeit ₹500 notes were recovered from them.
During investigation, police found that the accused had sourced fake notes from contacts in Rajasthan. One person has been detained from there, and cash, mobile phones, and a vehicle have also been seized.
Police said further investigation is ongoing to identify other links in the network.
