Top Floor Heat Tips: How to Stay Cool in Summer

With the India Meteorological Department indicating a strong summer this year, residents living on top floors in Vadodara and other parts of Gujarat may face increased indoor heat between April and June. Experts suggest a few practical measures to manage indoor temperatures during this period.

Applying heat-reflective or white paint on terraces can help reduce heat absorption and lower indoor temperatures by a few degrees. Creating small terrace gardens using potted plants is also recommended, as soil and greenery can absorb heat. Residents can sprinkle water on rooftops in the evening to bring temporary relief.

Proper ventilation is advised, including the use of exhaust fans during the day and keeping windows open at night when temperatures drop. Indoor plants and thick curtains can further help in reducing heat entering the house.

These measures are being suggested as low-cost alternatives to manage heat, especially for those on upper floors. Further guidance from local authorities or weather updates is awaited.
