Tensions in the Middle East have escalated after Iran reportedly launched ballistic missiles targeting the US–UK military base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The incident was reported early Friday and has raised concerns about the widening scope of the ongoing conflict.
According to reports, two medium-range missiles were fired from Iran towards the base, located around 3,800 km away. US defence systems intercepted the missiles before they could hit the target. Diego Garcia is considered a key strategic base for US military operations in the region.
US President Donald Trump stated that the country is progressing towards its military objectives and indicated that further developments may take place in the coming weeks.
Amid the situation, the United States has announced a temporary relaxation in restrictions on Iranian oil shipments. Officials have also indicated that global oil prices may remain volatile.
The situation remains under close watch internationally, and further developments are awaited.
