A 27-year-old woman constable posted at Kapurai Police Station in Vadodara was found dead at her residence near Navjivan Society on Ajwa Road. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Prajapati, a native of Banaskantha district.
According to police, Priyanka was preparing for the PSI recruitment examination and had recently cleared the physical test. She was reportedly on a 10-day leave from duty to study for the written examination.
The incident came to light on Tuesday night when a friend visited her residence to deliver study material. After repeated knocks received no response, the door was opened and she was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside the house.
Police officials said no suicide note has been found so far. Bapod Police have registered a case of accidental death and started an investigation. Statements of family members and colleagues are being recorded to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
The body was sent to Sayaji Hospital for post-mortem examination. Further details are awaited as police continue their investigation.
