ABVP burst crackers as a mark of protest to demand 50% reduction

In a unique protest, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members burst cracker inside the MSU campus with demand for a 50 % reduction in the syllabus of the Commerce and Arts faculty. The students also had heated arguments with the security after they approached the university authorities with their demands.

Due to the Corona pandemic, online education was provided to students by the university. However, as per students, the full syllabus is not covered through this medium. Hence there has been a demand for a 50 % reduction in syllabus in the Arts Faculty and Commerce Faculty for some time now. After written as well as oral representations were made by the ABVP for a reduction in the syllabus is yet to addressed by the authorities.

On Thursday the ABVP students arrived at the head office and burst cracker on the way to the building. However, there was a confrontation between students and the security as the gate was closed.

The students shouted various slogans, holding posters regarding reduction in the syllabus, and calling the Vice-Chancellor outside the head office. As the protest took an aggressive turn the university security tried to stop them and a scuffle broke out between the guards and students.

ABVP student leaders said that for quite some time they had been silently protesting with demand for a 50% reduction of the syllabus in the Faculty of Commerce and Arts. But with no action from the university, they burst cracker to wake up the authorities. After today’s program, if their demand is not accepted by the university authorities, there will be a fierce agitation in the coming days.
