Vadodara: Traffic Police Begin Strict Action on Stop Line and Zebra Crossing Violations
Vadodara traffic police and the Vadodara Municipal Corporation have started a joint enforcement drive to prevent vehicles from stopping beyond the stop line and on zebra crossings at traffic signals across the city. The action aims to improve pedestrian safety and traffic discipline at busy junctions.
As part of the drive, fresh stop line and zebra crossing markings have been painted at several major intersections. These include Kalaghoda Circle, Baroda Automobile Crossroads, BSNL Crossroads, Shani Mandir Crossroads and Khanderao Market Crossroads. Authorities have stated that these locations will remain under close monitoring.
Officials said that many motorists were earlier stopping vehicles on zebra crossings during red signals, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and increasing the risk of accidents. Under the current rules, vehicles must stop strictly before the white stop line when the signal is red. Violations will attract fines, which may be issued through CCTV surveillance or by on-duty traffic police personnel.
The civic body has clarified that this is a strict enforcement initiative, not just road marking work. Pedestrians have also been advised to cross roads only at designated zebra crossings. Further monitoring will continue in the coming days.
