The Vishwamitri Ghats see a ray of hope this Diwali

Disregarded and decaying ghats of Vishwamitri, see a ray of hope this Diwali as hundreds of diyas and colorful rangolis ornament the ghats in the light of the celebration.

On 4th November, at Kala Ghoda Circle, a handful of Vadodara citizens decided to address the neglected ghats of Vishwamitri with the concern of rekindling the beauty and tranquility of the ghats.

The Vishwamitri Ghats were lit up every occasion during the Gaekwardi era; with time, it has been a victim of residents’ ignorance. Vishal Thakur, who is an active participant in organizing and holding awareness programs regarding the Vishwamitri River, draws our attention to preserving our heritage spot of the city.

Thakur aims to keep organizing such awareness drives to keep reminding the citizens about the need to restore the ghats as well as the aquatic life, and the crocodiles. These programs help engage citizens with little effort as an individual to contribute to change.

The ghats were cleared up manually by a group of citizens. Vishwamitri ghats, when decorated with bright diyas and vibrant rangolis drew resemblance with the Ayodhya ghats, which was indeed a captivating sight.
