Testing with 900 rapid diagnostic kits begins in Vadodara

For the purpose of proactive testing and detection, 900 rapid diagnostic kits have been allocated to VMC. Preliminary training has been given to the medical officers and lab technicians for testing COVID19 patients with those kits. As per the guidelines issued by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), these testing kits will be used at hotspot areas in Vadodara.

The guidelines are as follows-

  • Testing kits are to be used for a person who was in close contact with the COVID-19 patient, aged anywhere between 18 of 50
  • This test will be conducted only on one person from each household,
  • A person having hypertension, diabetes and any illnesses related to heart, liver, kidney,
  • A symptomatic person,
  • Vegetable vendors, provision store owners, milk vendors and newspaper distributors located within the hotspot areas will also be included in the scope of this test

This test was used in Navidharti area at Rohitvaas, where 28 samples were collected, and 22 samples were collected from Salatwada. These 50 samples were tested at urban health centre and the results of all tests came negative.
