No Garba this year too!

For the second year in a row, Garba-lovers will have to spend nine days without Garba.

Following the anticipation of the 3rd wave, India has been gearing up for it. And for the same reasons, Gujarat’s 11 of the leading Garba organizers have said that this year too Garba will not be organized as it will not be possible to arrange a huge event in such a short span of time, it also won’t be commercially viable to organize a Garba for a small group or maintain social distance.

If the third wave is likely to come by September, it is not possible to celebrate Navratri starting in October. Therefore, this time planning Garba should also be avoided for health and safety reasons.

Hemant Shah from United Way of Baroda said, “It would be difficult to hold Garba in the view of the pandemic, health and safety of everyone is our priority”.

Jayesh Thakkar, the organizer of Maa Shakti Garba in Vadodara, said, “As a citizen, I believe that Garba should not be organized this year. If the government allows, we should try to plan, but it is not necessary”.

The Garba organizers added that it will not be possible to comply with the social distancing rule, wearing a mask when the “khelaiyas” will play Garba.
