A 15-day special traffic enforcement drive has been launched across Gujarat from today to curb traffic violations and reduce road accidents. The drive has been initiated under the direction of senior police officials, including Police Commissioners and District Superintendents of Police.
During the campaign, traffic police will take strict action against offences such as drunk driving, wrong-side driving, use of tinted glass, vehicles without proper number plates, illegal LED lights and improper parking. Authorities have stated that vehicles may be detained in serious cases and fines will be imposed as per traffic rules.
Officials said that all districts have been instructed to submit daily reports of enforcement action to higher authorities. The campaign will continue for 15 days, during which checking will be intensified at major junctions and highways.
Police have advised motorists to carry valid documents, wear helmets and seat belts, and follow traffic regulations. Further updates will be shared by authorities as the drive progresses.
