Demand for strict lockdown arises in Gujarat

Gujarat’s cumulative corona tally crossed the five lakh figure to reach 5,10,373 today, with another high of 14,340 new cases, while the death toll rose to 6,486 with a staggering 158 fresh deaths. In April, the state has added 2,02,675 cases at an average of 7,795 daily. At present, there are 1,21,461 active cases, while the recovery rate stands at 74.93 percent

On the other hand today Mumbai witnessed a sharp fall in COVID cases today after more than a month, cases dropped to 3,792 from 41,000 tests. Maharashtra government gave credit to the strict lockdown implementation. PM Narendra Modi appealed to the states to use lockdown as the last resort also Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani is in the same view and said that there is no evidence that lockdown will help to curb the increasing cases, it will only hurt small business. Therefore in Gujarat only a night curfew is imposed starting from 8:00 p.m every day but the struggling patients to get a bed in the hospital and social media overflowing with the SoS messages says the other story. Gujarat Government has asked offices to operate with 50% manpower and allowing only 50 people at the wedding.

Villages and different business associations have voluntarily passed resolutions to keep their businesses close for atleast a week.

Today BJP MLA Ketan Inamdar wrote a letter to CM Vijay Rupani which mentioned that it is a need of the hour to impose lockdown in Gujarat.
