Communication Gap between VMC and Gujarat state government

Today Dy. CM Nitin Patel announced that Curfew to be imposed in Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara between 9 pm and 6 am, starting Nov 21. The state govt has decided to impose a complete curfew in Ahmedabad from 9 pm of Nov 20 to 6 am of Nov 23.

Before this announcement was done, VMC at 6:41 p.m published a press note stating that the situation in Vadodara is under control and there is no need of imposing a curfew but after reviewing the situation if needed we will impose the curfew. Press note further states that in Vadodara 70% of beds in hospitals and 60% of beds in ICU are vacant. People of Vadodara are requested to not panic.

This shows that the Gujarat government is not keeping the Municipal corporation in the loop of decisions made, name of Vadodara in the curfew list was a shocker for many because as per VMC official data daily less than 100 cases are registered.

O.S.D Dr. Vinod Rao said “Vadodara has successfully managed the First Wave from April to September. We are fully geared up in case we have the Second Wave in the coming weeks and have made all advance planning even to increase COVID beds and Ventilators if such a situation arises.”

Covid 19 cases in Vadodara reached 16940 mark after 98 cases registered in last 24 hours. Total of 105 patients discharged from the hospital which takes the total to 15588. The total number of confirmed deaths stayed at 217 after no death reported by the audit committee today.
