The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Thursday presented its draft budget of ₹7,609.63 crore for the financial year 2026–27 before the Standing Committee. The budget was presented by Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu and outlines the city’s proposed development plans for the coming year.
According to the civic body, the budget focuses mainly on infrastructure development, including roads, drainage systems, public facilities, and digital services. Major proposals include the construction of three new auditoriums in Sama, Manjalpur, and Sevasi, upgrading the city’s sports complex at an estimated cost of ₹350 crore, and building a new administrative office complex. Plans have also been announced to set up zonal civic centres across the city to improve public access to municipal services.
The corporation has stated that no new taxes have been imposed in this budget. To support funding, VMC plans to raise ₹200 crore through Blue Bonds. While the estimated income is ₹4,861.23 crore, expenditure is projected at ₹5,036.71 crore. Further discussions on the draft budget are expected in the coming days.
