Congress Stages Protest Over Voter List Process in Vadodara

Congress Alleges Irregularities in Voter List Process Ahead of Vadodara Civic Elections

Political activity has intensified in Vadodara ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, with the Congress raising allegations of irregularities in the voter list revision process. The party staged a protest on Monday at the new Collector’s office in Diwalipura, alleging large-scale manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists across the city’s five Assembly constituencies.

According to the Vadodara City Congress Committee, more than 47,000 objections have been filed with the intention of removing genuine voters from the electoral rolls. The party claims that BJP corporators and workers deliberately submitted Form-7 objections against valid voters to influence the voter list.

City Congress president Rutvij Joshi stated that despite multiple written representations to the District Election Officer and Collector Anil Dhamelia, no effective action has been taken so far. Opposition leader Chandrakant Srivastav, along with Rutvij Joshi, Kapil Joshi, councillor Pushpaben Vaghela, and other party leaders, participated in the protest and raised slogans outside the Collector’s office.

The Congress has demanded strict action against those responsible and warned of intensified protests if corrective measures are not taken. Police personnel were deployed at the venue to maintain law and order during the demonstration.

Election authorities have not issued an official response so far. Further details are awaited.
