VADODARA, India — Residents of Sonipol in central Vadodara have been grappling with a contaminated water supply for nearly two months, prompting health concerns and political friction. Locals allege the water, tainted with drainage, has led to a rise in skin-related illnesses, Jan. 29.
The Congress party staged a protest, accusing civic authorities of neglect and demanding urgent action. Party representatives raised the issue before the media, citing growing public frustration.
Ward No. 14 Corporator acknowledged the problem, attributing it to deteriorated underground drainage lines from the Gaekwadi era. He said work to replace these aging pipelines is ongoing but warned it may take time to fully resolve the contamination.
