Over 40,000 employees of GSRTC (Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation) are on casual leave today to seek a solution to their long pending problems of a pay hike as per the 7th pay commission. This means that transport services all over Gujarat are on a standstill today.
Out of the 45,000 employees of the GSRTC, 43,000 have applied for casual leave to seek a solution to their problems before the Lok Sabha elections in April and May. All the employee unions have banded together to address their grievances.
Meanwhile, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has issued an appeal to the workers to end their agitation and private bus companies are taking full advantage of the strike and charging double prices.
