The Story of a Man and his Tree House: where Nature and Modernity Share a Branch

In the heart of Rajasthan’s Udaipur, a city adorned with royal palaces, tranquil lakes, and exquisite temples, lies a unique attraction that blends architecture with nature. Among the myriad wonders that Udaipur offers, Kul Pradeep Singh’s treehouse stands as a testament to environmental consciousness and innovative design.

A Green Oasis Amidst Architectural Marvels

While Udaipur boasts a rich history and scenic beauty, Kul Pradeep Singh’s four-storey treehouse has been captivating visitors since its inception in the year 2000. This green oasis, perched 40 feet above the ground in Chitrakoot, offers a refreshing perspective on sustainable living.

Architectural Harmony with Nature

In a world where development often comes at the cost of deforestation, KP Singh, an engineer, envisioned a home that embraced nature rather than depleting it. His treehouse, nestled in an 80-year-old mango tree, ingeniously utilizes the branches as functional elements, such as a sofa and TV stand, proving that modern amenities can coexist with nature’s beauty.

K.P. Singh expresses his passion for the environment, “I suggested, ‘can’t we make a house on a tree?’ to which he reacted, ‘you can only make a small machan for kids on a tree, a house can’t be built on a tree.’ I said, ‘I can make a residential house on the tree.'”

The Cost of Progress: From Kunjaro ki Baadi to Kun Pradeep Singh’s Treehouse

The area where Singh chose to build his treehouse was once known as Kunjaro ki Baadi, home to approximately 4000 trees. The looming threat of deforestation for residential plots prompted Singh to intervene, leading to a visionary solution that would ultimately become a symbol of environmental protection.

A Sustainable Dream Realized: Engineering Marvel without Cement

Singh’s engineering background, coupled with his environmental sensibilities, guided the construction of the treehouse. Remarkably, no cement was used in its creation. Instead, steel, cellulose sheets, and fibers formed the structure. Large holes in the walls allow sunlight to filter through, nurturing the tree naturally.

Living in the Canopy: From Kitchen to Library, Every Element Respects Nature

As visitors explore the treehouse, they discover a residence that respects nature’s design. From the kitchen to the library, each floor is thoughtfully crafted around the tree’s branches. Singh’s treehouse even incorporates a unique room on the third floor, where the roof can be opened from above, offering a distinctive experience of living among the treetops.

Beyond Records: From Limca Book to Guinness World Records

Kul Pradeep Singh’s treehouse has etched its name in the Limca Book of Records, a recognition of its environmental significance. Undeterred, Singh aims for the prestigious Guinness World Records, turning his dream into a global symbol of harmonious coexistence between nature and architecture.

An Invitation to Udaipur’s Arboreal Wonderland

As Udaipur beckons travelers with its regal charm, Kul Pradeep Singh’s treehouse is an invitation to step into a world where modern living intertwines seamlessly with nature. This arboreal marvel serves as a reminder that progress need not come at the expense of our environment and that innovative solutions can create wonders that captivate both locals and tourists alike. The next time you find yourself in the ‘City of Lakes,’ make sure to add this eco-friendly gem to your Udaipur itinerary—a testament to one man’s vision for a sustainable and harmonious future.
