No plastic Bag for 1 Year, saved 75000 bags from getting added to the pollution

Plastic – a problem looms larger than we all can imagine, it just not only litter our environment but also kill land animals & endangered marine life. Plastic bags are the main reason for Floods, Drainage chock up, non-degradable garbage heaps and many more.

Today we discovered a fine & small example of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Parivar Char Rasta operating since 2016 .

As a new year Resolution owner of the shop, Chirag took a decision of not giving plastic bags to their customers. Since January 2017 they have stopped giving plastic bags. Initially, they faced some difficulty with patients who don’t carry any other bag but within some time they have understood our concern and resolution against plastic. They have started carrying own bag to buy medicines from us.

With an average of 150 patients during the 300 working days, they calculated and found out that they have saved approximately 75,000 plastic bags which would have polluted our city.
