Gearing up for the third wave: Vadodara district is preparing for the third wave

The surge in COVID-19 cases is nearing us to the third wave. In such a situation when variants are taking a toll in our country. ‘Sanskar-Nagari is been prepared to tackle the third wave. The authorities are arranging meetings and taking decisions on covering various aspects related to the third wave. 

The authorities Dr. Vinod Rao, Acting Secretary of Vadodara, Ms. Shalini Agarwal, Municipal Commissioner; Mr. R.B. Barad, District Collector; Dr. Rajendra, District Development Officer; under the effective guidance of Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Pradeepbhai Parmar Patel have declared public and private hospitals as covid designated hospitals and appropriate arrangements have been made to ensure that patients receive treatment as per the protocol prescribed by COVID-19. 

The number of bed facilities like bed, ventilator, and oxygen has been increased in the district. The state government is committed to providing healthy healthcare to Corona patients. In addition, Covid Care Centres have been reactivated by the district administration for patients with common symptoms of COVID-19 or who do not have access to home isolation. The centre has made arrangements in advance to provide free medicine, tea, snacks, and meals to the patients.

A three-pronged strategy of testing, tracing, and treatment has been adopted to fight COVID-19 in the Vadodara city district. Apart from this, medicines are being distributed to the patients undergoing treatment in home isolation in the district through Sanjeevani teams and Dhanvantari Raths. Ayurvedic medicines are also being distributed by AYUSH in rural areas. Centres have been set up in urban as well as rural areas for corona testing. Revised guidelines have been issued including night curfew, have been issued in the city to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The vaccination campaign has been carried out in the district. An adequate amount of oxygen is being arranged. 

Total beds in 20 government and 38 private hospitals: 5457

Total beds in ICU with ventilator: 244

Total beds in ICU without ventilator: 468

Total oxygen beds: 2137

Total isolation beds: 2608

Total PSA plants: 9

Dhanvantri Raths (Ambulances) will be equipped with RBSK and AYUSH doctors and nurses for primary health services like OPD services, RTPCR testing, treatment for patients in home isolation and provide referral facilities to critically ill patients in rural areas.

A Sanjeevani teams have been activated as part of the preparation of the COVID-19 third wave. ASHA workers have also been allotted to identify sick patients and conduct necessary tests and treatment.
