Movie review – Avengers : Age of Ultron (2015)

Director: Joss Whedon

Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi, Thriller

The much anticipated sequel to The Avengers (2012) has exceeded all expectations with the heroes roaring in action! The characters have outdone themselves as the Avengers combat against the villainous Ultron in this explosive thriller. Robert Downey Jr. as the Ironman is brilliant as the witty, billionaire philantropist backed by Chris Evans who shines in his honest, heartening performance as Captain America. Mark Ruffalo as hulk is ever so dangerous yet endearingly funny and Chris Hemsworth as Thor is as powerful, astounding yet convincing as ever. Scarlett Johansson with her stunning screen presence flourishes as the Black Widow and stands tall among the boys with her brooding yet sensitive performance. The movie is backed with a witty, intriguing script packed with subtle humour and smart one liners. The plot is extensive with the number of superheros having their own disparities but each character has been given sufficient screen time as to not leave the fans disappointed. The action sequences are a visual treat (watch out for Hulk vs. Ironman!) without getting tedious or repetitive. Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye gets more screen space as compared to the prequel along with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch who add more dimension to the throng of superheroes. The only shortcoming is the newly introduced romantic angle which lacks chemistry and feels forced but in hindsight, the rest of the movie makes up for it. With two and half hours of runtime, the movie delivers intensity and is a visually enthralling experience. Marvel fans are in for a treat. Strongly recommended to every comic buff and action lover out there.
